Armando had not even finished walking down to get his diploma from San Francisco State University before he and I had decided to take advantage of our 10 year anniversary quickly approaching and have a sweet, intimate wedding at San Francisco’s historic City Hall.
Initially, Armando and I had planned on it being a very intimate affair, just him and I with a photographer on a Thursday in June. My mom invited herself and it quickly escalated into having both of our parents attending and having my sister Facetime from Japan during the ceremony.
We were married on June 30, 2016 with a fellow co-worker/friend officiating our wedding on the third level of City Hall. Our last minute decision had us wondering if we could get married on the day, but Tim stepped in and our photographer recommended the third floor as a potential spot as we finished gathering on the first floor.
For the day, I wore things that I already had in my closet. My butterfly heels by Sophia Webster had been purchased almost 6 months before the ceremony and now are a lot more special to me. The white DVF Zarita dress was borrowed from my mom’s closet and it had only been worn once for a party.
Our biggest expenses for the day were the license, flowers, and photographer. We also hosted a lunch following the ceremony and photo shoot at Sen’s Restaurant on Embarcadero for our families. The flowers were my biggest regret for mentioning they would be for a wedding when I ordered them. I definitely felt like I could have put it all together (and I did take it apart the evening before since I was not stoked with all the flowers in it.) However, someone had mentioned they regretted not having flowers for their photos, and it did make a difference.
I was inspired by a lot of photos on Pinterest for a City Hall Wedding. It was a sunny day and we managed to get some amazing photos inside SF City Hall, but I must say, you can’t go wrong having your wedding here. The architecture is gorgeous and the lighting is pretty flattering. I never imagined we would be married in a venue like this.

We got our wedding photos for our 2018 reception and ceremony in August and haven’t had a lot of time to go through and pick our favorites, but that is our next project since we also need to pick out what we want in our album.
